Ted O'Regan died in 2003 and his wife Mary the following
year. Their passing has left a great sadness in Waterford and beyond.
Several people have expressed a wish to pay tribute to the couple
for their lasting contribution to the local arts community. Among
the planned events is this screening of Ted and Mary's famous drama
outings of the 70's and 80's.
The couple pioneered the notion of a children's arts
centre in the early 70's. Each Saturday, hundreds of children would
attend arts activities in Ferrybank Parish Hall, the highlight of
which was an annual outing. Ted would enlist local actors for the
excursion and visit historical locations as well as the seaside.
Anne Quealy managed to capture many of the drama
outings on her Super8 camera. This footage hasn't been publicly
screened before and is sure to jog the memories of those involved.
