‘Extraordinary…a hero with Huck Finn’s heart, lighting by El Greco and jokes by Punch and Judy…Stunning and Delicious’ …New York Times

Adapted for the stage by the author, the play is a hugely visual, physical and storytelling feast – with puppetry, spirits, dead towns and rain and Riddley Walker – “Walking my riddles where ever they’ve took me and walking them now in this here place the same”
‘Funny, terrible, haunting and unsettling…An extraordinary feat of imagination and style’ …Observer

Vanity, Vapours and Dizzy Debutantes
Date: 2nd & 3rd November | Time: 8pm | Venue: Garter Lane Arts Centre Ticket Price: €15
Ruth Draper delighted audiences with the characters she scripted and performed during a distinguished career of more than fifty years. Her astonishing single-handed achievements make her a legendary figure of 20th Century theatre.
“Vanity, Vapours and Dizzy Debutantes” presents, what Terry Wogan would call a “nosegay”, of Ruth Draper’s celebrated characters, to Irish theatre lovers as well as allowing them the opportunity to spend time with Ruth herself. Arranged and directed by Mary Curtin, Director of last year’s successful Three Penny Opera in the Spiegeltent, this production delighted audiences at this year’s Cork Midsummer festival and Mary is looking forward to bringing something a little different to the Imagine Festival audiences in Waterford. |
